As a deer pants for streams of water so I long for you, O God.
I thirst for God, the Living God.
When can I come and stand before him?
We grow weary in our present bodies and we long for the day
when we will put on our heavenly bodies like new clothing.
Once you were not a people,
now you are the people of God.
Once you received none of God's mercy,
now you have received His mercy.
We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus
on whom our faith depends from start to finish.
He was willing to die a shameful death on the cross
because of the joy he knew would be afterward.
Now He is seated in the place of highest honor
beside God's throne in heaven.
