Romans 8:36

On Thursday evenings I head straight from work to a home nestled on the Oldham/Jefferson County line.  Along with ten ladies I will spend two hours inductively studying  Romans 8:31-39 tonight.  To say that it is one of the bright spots in my week - is an understatement.

This is my verse for tonight...

As it is written,
For your sake we are being killed all the day long;
we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”

This is what I've studied/contemplated throughout the week:

  • Atonement - to make amends/satisfy.  It's a done deal - Christ completed this!

  • Redemption - to compensate for the faults of others or to 'buy out'.  The term is used specially as purchasing a slaves freedom.  Everyone is in NEED of this...

  • Guilt - comes from an accuser - who accuses you?  Even after we've asked the LORD to forgive and cleanse us - the enemy comes with guilt on - making us question whether or not we're really forgiven.

  • Conviction - leads us to God.  This is the idea of having Godly sorrow which LEADS to repentance.  Returning to the Lord - not wondering whether or not I'm forgiven (guilt).

No condemnation - blessed is the Word!

No separation - forever with the Lord,

By His blood He bought us, cleansed our every stain;
With rapture now we'll praise Him.

The Lamb for sinners slain.
