Waiting

Do you wait patiently?

Can you wait for fifteen minutes past an appointed lunch date and not grow inpatient because your friend is late? Do you glance at your watch and think of pithy things to say when they finally arrive?

Waiting is difficult.

I have been waiting for a long time. It has been said that waiting is the hidden preparation through which God puts those He loves. Well, God loves me because I have been in this place of spiritual preparation for six years.

Waiting has stretched me.

I have found in my waiting that I am more attuned to the deeper things of the Spirit. I begin thinking in terms of years and decades rather than minutes and hours. Waiting has slowed me internally making me more patient and kind. Maybe my waiting has become more about the process rather than the outcome?

As I learn to wait and to work in a posture of stillness ~ I am being changed.
