'Prayer Poem'

This is a prayer exercise from my Bible study last night.  I had them look over their 'living ready' cards.  They were to choose at least one scripture that resonates with them. We will be incorporating it into a psalm of sorts, a prayer poem.

LECTIO DIVINIA:
Everyone reads their scripture twice ~ out loud. Pause and listen for what God whispers to your heart. After everyone has had a chance to read, please take a moment and write your verse out.

JOURNAL:
Now, listening, write a prayer founded in that scripture.

Let it line up slowly ~ word by word ~ like a poem, repeating words and creating patterns along the way. Remember to reflect the gritty details of your life with honesty. Look full into the face of God and speak/write your heart in regards to your verse.

As you write, respond to God's Word to you through this prayer poem.

At the bottom of the page, note one significant event happening in your life currently, general or specific, that ties into this prayer poem.

CLOSE:
We'll close in prayer with everyone reading their scripture verse.
