HOPE as a hedge...part 3

What possibilities lie before you?
Are you holding on when holding on seems pointless?

Surrendering to the demands of the moment brings us to the point of personal transformation which is the juncture of maturity and sagacity, Chittister writes.

LIFE IS NOT ONE ROAD.

Oh, how I'd like for it to be that easy. But it is many roads and the journey I'm on provides the raw material out of which HOPE's seed will be planted and grow within my heart. Everyday I must get out of bed and make the decision to put one foot in front of the other ~ so that I can draw from the well of new understanding.

Chittister wisely reminds us, 'we always think of hope as gounded in the future. That's wrong, I think.' Hope is fulfilled in the future but it depends on our ability to remember that we have survived everything in life to this point ~ and this is HUGE.

The spiritual task of life is to feed hope. "Hope is not something to be found outside of us. It lies in the spritual life we cultivate within. The whole purpose of wrestling with life is to be transformed into the self we are meant to become..."
