"Do not let the sun go down while you are angry, and do not give the devil a foothold."
(Eph 4:26-27, NIV)
We are working our way through James in my small group on Monday nights. This week our study focused on James 4:4-10.
"So let God work his will in you. Yell a loud no to the Devil and watch him scamper..." (v7 MSG).
We have power to resist the devil. "Do not give a foothold" emphasizes that this is something within our power to control. The devil can only come as close as we allow him. "Resist the devil and he will flee from you" (James 4:7).
Resistance is essential! Daily! Satan will not give up but return with greater force at another time.
Practically, we discussed what we need to watch for and be alert about in our own lives. Everyone mentioned areas where we know we must resist Satan's ploy's to ensure that we do not compromise what we know is right.
"Do not give the devil a foothold" is a call to arms ~ to engage in battle!
Are you wearing the full armor of God? Or are you relinquishing ground to the schemes of Satan? Are you winning?
