Motives...

"It is not what a man does that determines whether his work is sacred or secular, it is WHY he does it."
~ A.W. Tozer

"And you, my son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the LORD searches every heart and understands every motive behind the thoughts. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will reject you forever."
1 Chronicles 28:9

  2. So appreciate Tozer. He really got it. Was just having a discussion with a friend today about the distinction between sacred and secular. I often come away from a message where something is referred to as "secular" with a bad taste in my mouth. I've come to really not like that word as it is tossed around for anything that appears to be outside the church. Tozer gets it right and once again gets right to the heart of it! Thanks!
