Teach me Your paths, Lord...

Reading through Psalm 25 this morning, I realized...I am a needy person.  Not in the 'high maintenance' sense of the word, but someone who is in need; impoverished.  I am poor, helpless, and destitute without the Lord.  Listen to the requests of David...

Psalm 25:1-7

To you, O LORD, I lift up my soul.
O my God, in you I trust;
     let me not be put to shame;
     let not my enemies exult over me.

Indeed, none who wait for you shall be put to shame;
they shall be ashamed who are wantonly treacherous.

Make me to know your ways, O LORD;
     teach me your paths.
Lead me in your truth and teach me,
     for you are the God of my salvation;
     for you I wait all the day long.

Remember your mercy, O LORD,
     and your steadfast love,
     for they have been from old
Remember not the sins of my youth or my transgressions;
    according to your steadfast love remember me,
    for the sake of your goodness, O LORD!

...and this is just the first seven verses!  The entire psalm is filled with the plea's of David for God to be near him and intervene against his enemies.  When is the last time you earnestly pleaded for God to intervene and rescue you?

Do you NEED the Lord, today?

  1. Great post. I feel sometimes it is so easy for us to forget all we need do is ask/pray. Why are we creatures who fear help?
