GOD IS JEALOUS ~ when we do not spend time with Him.
It is a different use of the word “jealous” as we would normally use. Jealousy is also a way to describe the love a husband has for a wife who is unfaithful. In the Old Testament, Hosea described jealousy as the hurt and deeply felt pain of betrayal and loss. The measureable unfaithfulness of a spouse in a relationship in which love has been pledged.
God is JEALOUS of what 'belongs' to Him ~ worship and service belong to Him along and are to be given to Him alone.
Exodus 20:5
"You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God..."
1 Corinthians 11:2
"I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him."
James 4:5
"Or do you think Scripture says without reason that the spirit he caused to live in us envies intensely?"
